Film Reviews - Allelujah & Scream VI

Image
I think my face may be scarier than the mask! Hello and welcome to my first film reviews of 2023. I figured that seeming as I was trying to see at least one film a week this year, I should start writing some reviews! So to start off, here are my reviews from two films I saw at my local Cineworld this week, Allelujah and Scream VI. Something sinister is lurking in this poster! Upon watching it's trailer a few months ago, I saw a film that looked very relatable. See, I work with the elderly and some of the humour I saw in the trailer is something I experience on an almost daily basis. A film that's relatable is always a good thing, right? So upon seeing the film finally yesterday, I left very shocked, much to my own surprise.  This film does indeed showcase a light-hearted look at working in the health profession but my God does it take a dark twist towards the end. Now I'm not one that hates twists in the movies. I especially love a good twist ending. However, when an endi...

A Celebration of the Jaws Series

Image
Watch out Brody, Bruce is creeping up on you! Introduction  Seeing as it is National Shark Week in the USA, and also apparently here in the UK, I thought to myself, what better time than to revisit one of my favourite film series, I'm talking about Jaws of course! To say that I like the Jaws series would be a serious understatement. I don't just like it, I absolutely love it. Yes, that includes the mixed bag of sequels too! So what I thought I would do is just write a little blog sharing my love for all four of the films in the series, the good, the bad, and the very ugly! Jaws 3-D has a memorable ending for all the wrong reasons! Jaws - The Greatest Film of All Time? The first film in the Jaws series is completely sacred in my opinion. It is literally the holy grail of filmmaking. To my mind, not many films come remotely close to it. Why do I feel this strongly about it? Oh so many reasons! Firstly, the director. This film would never have happened if it wasn't for the f...

My Top 25 Moments from the Star Wars Sequels Trilogy

Image
The sequels trilogy, an absolute triumph in my opinion! It's no secret that I'm a massive Star Wars fan. It's also no secret that I'm a big lover of the sequels trilogy, also known as the so-called 'Disney' trilogy. For me, the newest trilogy of Star Wars films have been one of my favourite things to hit cinema screens. Whilst I have found a new love for the prequel trilogy, having previously almost hating it, I personally feel that the sequel trilogy is far superior. Now let's be honest though, nothing will ever top the original trilogy. That's just a simple fact. However, I viewed the new trilogy with a very open mind and didn't want to unfairly compare it to the original films. My pure surprise when I instantly fell in love with all the new characters and stories was simply magical to me. Why? Well because Star Wars is a massive part of my life. I've grown up loving the films for as long as I can remember and at the current age of 26, I...

Michael's Top 20 Christmas Movies

Image
Merry Christmas everyone! Today mark's the 1st of December, which to some people means we can now officially say it's the Christmas season, though personally I've been in that mood for weeks! Anyway, seeming I'm really feeling that festive spirit, I thought it would be fun to write a blog about my top 20 Christmas movies. Now before we get right into it, I thought I would just say that the only rules for this list is that each film has to feature scenes taking place during the Christmas season, so there may be a few surprises on the list, and before you say it, no, I've not included 'Die Hard' on the list, though many would! I've also not included 'Frozen', which appears on many modern Christmas movie lists. I mean come on guys, it doesn't even take place during the Winter but actually Summer! So now you know the rules, why don't you sit back, pour a glass of mulled wine and enjoy my top 20 Christmas movies list! 20 - Black Ch...
