My Top 25 Moments from the Star Wars Sequels Trilogy

The sequels trilogy, an absolute triumph in my opinion!

It's no secret that I'm a massive Star Wars fan. It's also no secret that I'm a big lover of the sequels trilogy, also known as the so-called 'Disney' trilogy. For me, the newest trilogy of Star Wars films have been one of my favourite things to hit cinema screens. Whilst I have found a new love for the prequel trilogy, having previously almost hating it, I personally feel that the sequel trilogy is far superior. Now let's be honest though, nothing will ever top the original trilogy. That's just a simple fact. However, I viewed the new trilogy with a very open mind and didn't want to unfairly compare it to the original films. My pure surprise when I instantly fell in love with all the new characters and stories was simply magical to me. Why? Well because Star Wars is a massive part of my life. I've grown up loving the films for as long as I can remember and at the current age of 26, I would personally say that the current trilogy is somewhat the trilogy of my generation, which could also be why I have a big infinity with it. Anyway! Enough of me! Let's talk about some of the many moments that I have fallen in love with from the sequels trilogy!

25 - "A Jedi's weapon deserves more respect!" The Rise of Skywalker

Rey loses all hope before a friend from the past returns.

The Rise of Skywalker is a perfect end to the Skywalker saga and is also a film that many would say was an improvement to the series previous entry. One of The Last Jedi's biggest criticisms was it's handling of the character of Luke Skywalker. Whilst I still thought Mark Hamill put in an Oscar-worthy performance, I still wasn't the happiest with his story arc. However, the fact they brought him back in the last film as a Force ghost was just perfect. Though it's a short scene, it's also a vital one. It is in this scene when Rey has lost all hope and gets ready to throw the Skywalker saber into the ashes when all of a sudden we see a ghostly hand. Watching this in the cinema I shouted in my head "Yes!" because I anticipated it to be Luke, and boy was I not disappointed! This is when Luke becomes totally bad ass again with an already classic quote "A Jedi's weapon deserves more respect!" Mark Hamill just totally bosses his short appearance in the film. I should also probably tell you now that Luke Skywalker is and always has been, my favourite Star Wars character.

24 - Chewie's Porg BBQ, The Last Jedi

Just look at those eyes!

I'll never forget the first time I saw Porgs during the marketing campaign for The Last Jedi. I've always loved the many fantastic creatures and droids in the Star Wars universe, but for some reason, the little Porgs really caught my attention. I still remember my anticipation when I visited Disneyland Paris, not long after cuddly toy Porgs had hit the stores, so naturally I had to adopt one, didn't I! Three years later and I now have three in my Porg family. Anyway, the scene mentioned above is somewhat funny and also menacing! In a little cut away scene from The Last Jedi, Chewie is resting up outside the Millennium Falcon and is seen to be roasting something on a skewer. It is on closer inspection that we realise he is roasting Porgs! Even worse is the fact that Chewbacca spots some Porgs watching on in pure terror! Whilst Chewie scares them away, he very quickly feels his own remorse for eating the cute little critters.

23 - Yoda's Return, The Last Jedi

What a beautiful sight it was to see these two back together again.

Having had the plot of The Force Awakens soiled by people online and even some of my own friends, I went on an almost social media hiatus the few days before The Last Jedi was released in the UK. I'm so glad I did this because the return of Yoda was something I was not expecting in the slightest! Yoda is one of them characters that I also resonate with when I think of Star Wars and in particular the whole concept of the Force. Seeing Luke in such despair was devastating for me and to see him almost end all hope of the Jedi world was the unthinkable. Then good old Yoda shows up to offer some words of wisdom. What a scene! Even better for me, director Rian Johnson went totally old school and decided to make Yoda as a puppet. Yes I thought to myself! You just can't beat practical effects!

22 - March of the Resistance, The Force Awakens

You've just got to love an X-Wing!

The Force Awakens has so much action going on throughout but it was the first battle between the Resistance and the First Order that really got me going! One of the things I loved most about it was director JJ Abrams vision for the scene. He shot it at so many stunning angles that it is a pure piece of art and while relatively short, is one of my most favourite Star Wars battle scenes. So much goes on in this scene. We see Finn first use the Skywalker lightsaber, which is the first time we see a lightsaber in use in the trilogy. We also see Han and Chewie in a fight against Stormtroopers once more. Perhaps most awesome of all is the reveal that Poe Dameron has survived earlier events of the film and totally annihilates the First Order ships. This is when we come to realise how much of an awesome pilot Poe really is. The score from this scene is equally magnificent but that should be no surprise coming from Star Wars composing stalwart John Williams!

21 - "That was a cheap move!" The Last Jedi

"Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi" Who can ever forget that immortal line?

One of my favourite scenes from The Last Jedi takes place just after the scene I already mentioned involving Chewie and the Porgs. In the background of that already mentioned scene, we see a figure walk onto the Millennium Falcon. This figure turns out to be Luke Skywalker. After walking around the Falcon and reminiscing, Luke sits down at the Dejarik (chess) table and R2-D2 comes to life once again. After Luke tries to convince his old droid friend that nothing will get him to change his mind about returning to his old friends, R2-D2 replays the old video message of Leia asking for help, from the first Star Wars film. Knowing this was the moment that started Luke on the path to where he is now, he simply quips "That was a cheap move!" It's a really small and subtle scene but I totally love it. I also forgot to mention it's the first time that Luke reunites with R2-D2, which really pulled at my heartstrings!

20 - Leia's Sacrifice, The Rise of Skywalker

Seeing Carrie Fisher once more was so touching.

Many Star Wars fans assumed that The Last Jedi would be Carrie Fisher's final appearance, so to see our favourite princess return in The Rise of Skywalker was a completely touching experience. Even more touching though, was her much expected death scene. Whilst we all knew it was coming, it still hit us with a tonne of bricks. What makes Leia's death so tragic is the fact it is with her own sacrifice that Kylo Ren returns to the light side in this very moment, once again becoming Ben Solo, and more importantly, Leia and Han's son. What's impressive with this scene is that a lot of the Carrie Fisher footage was unused stock footage from The Force Awakens, as well as some CGI inserts. It all looked so fluid that you would be hard to guess as to which was which. It would also be a massive understatement on my part to not mention Adam Driver's acting in this scene. Now I'll be the first to admit I wasn't keen on him at first in The Force Awakens, in fact, I pretty much disliked his character. It was in The Last Jedi that I realised I was wrong. In The Rise of Skywalker, Adam Driver totally knocked it out of the park and I would even argue that he has had the most successful acting story through the whole trilogy.

19 - The Lightsaber chooses Rey, The Force Awakens

This was the moment we were all waiting for!

Rather surprisingly, the marketing campaign didn't make it clear as to who our new trilogy lead Jedi would be. Considering many posters and early shots from The Force Awakens showed Finn holding a lightsaber, you could have been forgiven for thinking Rey would be the Jedi on first impressions. However, once the film started, it was soon obvious who was going to be carrying this trilogy as it's main leader and boy, what a character. I almost fell in love with Rey straight away, admittedly because I began a crush on Daisy Ridley who plays her. Young love aside, I loved seeing how her character progressed throughout the first film. However, it was the scene where Kylo Ren is using the Force to pick up the Skywalker lightsaber, which of all a sudden changes direction and flies into Rey's hand. What an epic moment that was, and John Williams scored the scene using the iconic 'Force' theme music. Trust me, you'll know the piece I'm referring to, it's used in almost every scene involving the 'Force' and is particularly memorable for being used when Luke looks into the twin suns on Tatooine in A New Hope. I think looking back at the trilogy as a whole, what makes this scene so special to me is how this was where Rey took her first steps into becoming a Jedi. I just love it!

18 - "They fly now?" The Rise of Skywalker

This scene was pure Star Wars, it really was!

I mentioned earlier how for The Last Jedi, I tried to avoid all spoilers. Well The Rise of Skywalker was no different for me, however, there was an exclusive short clip released which I couldn't resist to take a sneak peak of. This particular scene showed a speeder chase but also Stormtroopers using jet packs for the first time in film history, which leads to a funny exchange from Finn, C3-PO and Poe. Finn and the sarcastic droid spot the jet troopers and question "They fly now?" to which Poe rather hesitantly and simply replies "They fly now!" This clip got me very excited for the film and once I saw it, this whole scene became an instant favourite. It was a very classic Star Wars chase sequence, which reminded me of the speeder bike sequence from Return of the Jedi. I also love how cute little BB-8 manages to set off bombs. I swear there's nothing that the cute little droid can't do. Then again, you should never underestimate a droid!

17 - "Hey kid!" The Rise of Skywalker

I would never have anticipated what Kylo Ren would turn around to see!

Having avoided spoilers for The Rise of Skywalker, I couldn't believe how shocked I was by one of the films surprises. Now there were many shocking moments, such as finding out Rey's true family identity, but nothing could have surprised me more than seeing a return of Han Solo. I was shocked, really shocked! Now obviously with his passing in The Force Awakens, I assumed that was everyone's favourite rogue gone forever, so to see him come back as a living memory for Kylo Ren was amazing. Not only was the appearance a great and welcoming shock but the whole scene itself involving Han and Kylo was a triumph. Why? The acting. Pure acting! Harrison Ford always gives a great performance, no doubt, and as I said, Adam Driver also produced great performances with this series, but it was in this scene where I thought he absolutely nailed it. This is the exact moment after Leia has made her passing sacrifice and Kylo returns himself as Ben Solo. The pure emotion from Adam Driver in this scene brought tears to my eyes. When he says "Dad" and Han replies "I know", it is the ultimate throwback to the famous Leia and Han love exchange in The Empire Strikes Back. Fan service? Absolutely, and I bloody loved it!

16 - BB-8's Thumbs Up, The Force Awakens

Thumbs up if you love droids!

I quite honestly never thought it would be possible for the Star Wars series to top my love for R2-D2. You can imagine my shock when I fell in love with BB-8 instantaneously. I remember reading online how they were adding a new droid who would be a central character. I thought to myself how they would never top R2-D2 and now I feel on the fence, in a good way though! R2-D2 is possibly the most famous cinema robot of all time, coupled with C3-PO, however, BB-8 isn't far behind at all. Why do I love him? Well, what's not to love? He is so cute! He also manages to convey so much emotion, despite not speaking a language that we as an audience can not understand. He also has the hero mentality about him. Throughout all three films of the sequels trilogy, BB-8 has his own 'save the day' moments, one of my favourites being from The Last Jedi when he launches coins from his chest like a gun. However, BB-8's biggest shining moment, if not his funniest, is in The Force Awakens. It is still early in the story when BB-8 doesn't know whether to fully trust Rey or Finn, however, on this occasion, he trusts Finn, and does so by giving him an approving thumbs up involving a flame. It's pure farce but so, so brilliant.

15 - Finn vs Captain Phasma, The Last Jedi

"Let's go chrome dome!"

Being the longest film in the Star Wars series, it's no surprise to see lots of action sequences involved in The Last Jedi. One of my favourites though is the scene involving Finn and Captain Phasma. To say these two hate each other would be an understatement. Finn, once a Stormtrooper himself has no such desire to return to his forced roots, so he almost jumps at the chance to once again face-off against his once leader, the fantastically designed Captain Phasma. Whilst it is perhaps one of the shortest scenes on this list, it is with no doubt one of my favourite stand-offs in the series. I also love how you see that Phasma herself is indeed too, just a human under the mask. Phasma quips "You were always scum" to which Finn proudly defies "Rebel scum!" You've just got to love it!

14 - Rey vs Kylo Ren on Passana, The Rise of Skywalker

What an amazing shot!

Wow! What an adrenaline rush this scene was. Whilst on the hunt for a Sith wayfinder on the desert planet Pasaana, Rey senses that something is up. She makes her way out into the middle of the desert and readies herself for something approaching. That fast approaching noise is none other than Kylo Ren in his brilliantly named TIE Whisper ship. The shot of Rey running with Kylo pursuing behind is one of the best action shots I have ever seen in a film. The whole running scene got my adrenaline pumping just watching it! Then Rey does an amazing acrobatic move and takes down Kylo's ship with one hit of her lightsaber. This isn't the only part of the sequence that is amazing, oh no! After Rey takes down the ship, Finn screams out to her that the First Order have taken Chewbacca on a ship. Rey tries to use the Force to bring the ship back down but it as at this moment that Kylo Ren re-emerges from his ship and also uses the Force to try and bring the ship in his direction. It is very reminiscent of a Mexican stand-off sequence and executed perfectly. However, it is at this point that Rey all of a sudden loses control and accidentally uses lightning from her hands and takes down the ship, believing she has killed Chewie in the process. Believing Chewier was dead the first time I saw this, I almost broke down!

13 - "No one's ever really gone" The Last Jedi

How could anyone not shed a tear at this scene.

I, like many Star Wars and film fans around the world, shed a tear when I heard of Carrie Fisher's passing in 2016. This is an actress who played one of the most iconic characters of not only my childhood but also my adult life. She was a true icon for me, so to see her in her final acting performances was somewhat tragic and yet pleasant. Though her last ever appearance was in the following film, I feel that her performance in The Last Jedi was the best. Throughout the film we see just how much Leia was connected to the Force, something we had seen very little of in the original trilogy. However, what marked this as the stand out performance for me was her scene where she is reunited with her brother, Luke. Even more bittersweet for me is knowing that it is the last ever on screen scene between Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, two of the people who I associate most with Star Wars. When Luke utters the words "No one's ever really gone", I don't think there was a dry eye in the cinema!

12 - "Wookie's stand out in a crowd!" The return of Lando, The Rise of Skywalker

Lando Calrissian, surely one of the coolest Star Wars characters ever?

Now when you think of iconic Star Wars characters, there are so many who stand out. Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Han Solo, there are just so many. However, who would you say is actually a 'cool' character? It has to be Lando doesn't it! With his macho charm first seen in The Empire Strikes Back, he was an instant favourite for fans. The funniest thing for me personally though, is just how much I forgot I loved his character. With no sign of Lando in the prequels trilogy or the first two films from the sequels trilogy, I almost lost it when I saw Lando pop up in the first full trailer for The Rise of Skywalker! I had no idea how we was going to be introduced in the new film, so when he ends up saving Rey and the gang from a couple of Stormtroopers, it was just a magical moment. Seeing him in disguise, then lifting off his helmet to realise it's Lando, I totally loved it. I also loved the fact that his first line was "Wookie's stand out in a crowd!" Showing his old love for Chewbacca. Again, it was pure fan service but it was done so, so right!

11 - Rey finds Luke, The Force Awakens

I'm back!

For me The Force Awakens was the perfect start to the sequels trilogy. However, as I was first watching the film, I kept thinking to myself, are we ever going to see Luke? Of course, I knew it would have to surely happen, though I wasn't quite sure how. So the film ends with Rey making her way to the island Ahch-To, where Luke has exiled himself. The long trek up to the top of the island is accompanied by a fantastic John Williams score. When Rey finally reaches the top, she sees a cloaked figure looking in the distance. The figure turns around and lifts down his hood, revealing himself to be Luke Skywalker. Rey reaches out to Luke holding the lightsaber he once wielded and the credits begin. I got so, so emotional when I first saw Luke pull down his hood. There was my favourite character again, back on the big screen! Whilst he had not one line of dialogue, just seeing him standing there was enough for me. For me that was a way to end the film on a high and make me want to see the next one!

10 - The Battle of Crait, The Last Jedi

Visually stunning in my opinion!

It can't be a Star Wars film without a big battle sequence, and The Last Jedi definitely didn't disappoint. Towards the end of the film, the Resistance have set up base on an abandoned rebel outpost on the planet Crait. Signals are sent out for help but no one answers the call. Unsurprisingly, the First Order are hot on their tails and soon arrive for battle on Crait. Up against the mighty firepower of the First Order are tiny little ski speeders. With no sign of winning the battle, the Millennium Falcon shows up to offer some much needed help, again with a magnificent score provided by John Williams, which includes a much wanted return of the Tie Fighter Attack score from A New Hope, a delight for old school fans like myself. This is far from the best ever battle in Star Wars history but visually it is one of the most impressive. I think the design for Crait was amazing, which also very much reminded me of the setting for the battle on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back.

9 - Rey the Scavenger, The Force Awakens

Hello there!

Much like the original trilogy and even the prequels, character introductions are vital to the whole story. Without a good introduction you're likely to feel much for the character. Thankfully, a good majority of the characters in The Force Awakens had great first moments, my favourite being Rey. Now it must be mentioned that Rey is my favourite character of the sequels trilogy, no question. Overall she is second to only Luke Skywalker. What I loved most about her introduction was how we get a clear picture of who she is straight away, a scavenger, who leads a simple life. There are a lot of nods to previous films in her introduction, including her wearing an X-Wing helmet, very reminiscent of Luke's. My most favourite thing from Rey's introduction is one shot in particular, in which we see Rey on her speeder, gliding past a dilapidated Star Destroyer in the deserts of Jakku. That particular shot was when I said to myself how director JJ Abrams was totally the right man for the job.

8 - Han Solo's Demise, The Force Awakens

I knew it was coming but it was still a shock!

Okay. So I may have mentioned how The Force Awakens plot was ruined for me by friends who saw it before me, as well as people online. Though a lot of the leaks didn't particularly annoy me, the one I'm about to mention did. Why? Because it was the death of one of the original trilogy's most famous characters, Han Solo! So I knew the scene was coming but thankfully the idiots didn't spoil how Han was going to die. So when it came to that moment, I was still left in shock. Seeing Han Solo murdered by his own son, Ben (or Kylo Ren at the time, was just something else. Even worse than seeing Han die was the reactions of those around him. Chewbacca's screaming howl was enough to make me cry big time! I knew the new sequels trilogy would probably see an end to the lives of the likes of Han Solo, Luke Skywalker etc, however, I was never anticipating one to be murdered by their own family. Though not to spoil things, this wasn't my top death scene from the sequels trilogy, we'll get to that in a few moments!

7 - "See you around, kid!" The Last Jedi

Fooled you, huh?

After the Battle of Crait has come to a stop, Luke Skywalker makes a very surprising return to his friends in need, most importantly his sister Leia. After a highly emotional exchange, Luke makes his way out towards the First Order army, who fire at will. Much to their shock, Luke is standing there unscathed. This is where I truly thought to myself, okay, they've made Luke the Jedi I've always loved again. Furious, Kylo Ren confronts Luke, thinking he stands a chance of ending the Jedi. Of course, he is wrong. Luke takes a lot of hits from Kylo and it is at this point that we see Luke is in fact projecting himself while still being on his island of Ahch-To. After basically telling Kylo Ren that he stands no chance of ending the Jedi, he remarks "See you around, kid!" before disappearing and collapsing onto the rocks back at Ahch-To. This is without doubt my favourite lightsaber battle from the sequels trilogy, and for one simple reason, the awesomeness of Luke Skywalker.

6 - "The garbage will do!" The Force Awakens

The Millennium Falcon may not look like much but she's got it where it counts!

The Force Awakens was a film that reminded me just how much I loved Star Wars. Whilst it has always been a part of me as a person, after the prequels trilogy came to an end, dare I say I lost a little bit of interest. I think because I disliked the prequels so much, I found watching the original films from time to time to be a source of reminiscence if anything. So when The Force Awakens came around and blew me away, I was back in love with everything Star Wars again. A lot of scenes blew me away straight away, but it was the scene where we see the return of everyone's favourite beat-up beast, the Millennium Falcon. Whilst trying to flee from the First Order on Jakku, Finn spots a ship in the background which we as an audience don't see. Rey tells him that it's simply garbage before realising they have no other choice and that "The garbage will have to do!" This is when the classic Star Wars theme plays and we see a the Millennium Falcon in full view. Once on the ship, so begins an epic chase sequence on the desert sands of Jakku. This is pure Star Wars at it's finest! This is when I truly thought to myself, yep, I'm back in that world I love!

5 - "Chewie, we're home!" The Force Awakens

How good was it to see these two again!

When it comes to sequels, I'm one of them film fans that loves a good bit of fan service, whether it be nods to previous films, characters, etc. The Force Awakens was full of service but no other moment was greater than seeing Han Solo and Chewbacca step onto the Millennium Falcon for the first time since Return of the Jedi. It's the most simple of lines but hearing Han quietly remark to his friend "Chewie, we're home!", I think it made every single person watching smile, myself included, unsurprisingly. The Falcon is Han and Chewie's baby, so to see them back on their own territory was really special. Like I said, a very short moment but it was so meaningful for fans of the original trilogy that it remains my favourite moment from the first film of the sequels trilogy.

4 - Luke lifts the X-Wing, The Rise of Skywalker

He did it. Luke finally did it! Yoda would be so proud!

Again, I'm going to bring up the topic of fan service and let's get some things straight here. In my honest opinion, there is nothing wrong with fan service. People have been using the topic of fan service within the Star Wars sequel trilogy as if it's a bad thing. Oh no, no. I think if you're a fan of something then surely fan service is a good thing! The Star Wars sequels trilogy was full of it, with the last film being no exception. Perhaps the biggest piece of fan service was a throwback to The Empire Strike Backs. The original scene in question is when Luke admits defeat and Yoda shows the power of the Force by lifting Luke's X-Wing out of the Dagobah swamp. This scene is for many Star Wars fans, one of the best moments from the original trilogy, which I wholeheartedly agree with. You can imagine how happy I was to see this scene relived in The Rise of Skywalker. After Luke tells Rey she has everything she needs to end Palpatine's return, we see the water begin to ripple. Then low and behold, Luke's old X-Wing lifts out of the sea. Best of all? Two things. John Williams reuses the exact same score from when Yoda did the same thing. The other? Luke! Luke finally lifted the X-Wing! This scene brought tears to my eyes big time. Reading this I'm starting to see how emotional the Star Wars sequel trilogy made me feel, and that's not a bad thing at all!

3 - Luke is one with the Force, The Last Jedi

The end of an era.

Luke Skywalker is Star Wars for me. He embodies the whole heart of the Star Wars sage. So you can imagine my absolute grief when it came to his death scene. Han Solo's death made me cry, Luke's made me cry. However, it wasn't just joys of sadness, it was also tears of joy. Now that may sound a bit strange but hear me out. Having just used all of his energy to face-off against Kylo Ren as a Force projection, Luke collapses. This is when he looks up to the sky and sees a sunset, very much like the one he looked into on the planet Tatooine, where he first started his path to becoming a Jedi. What adds to this scene is that John Williams uses the score from that original scene, which is the perfect homage to how Luke's Jedi path began. Luke's body then disappears and it is at this point that he has now become one with the Force, very much like Yoda did in Return of the Jedi. Now I know the director of The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson got a hell of a lot of flack for this film, but I honestly think he handled Luke's death amazingly. Whilst I never wanted him to die, it was done in the most perfect way. Can I start crying again now?

2 - "But there are more of us Poe!" The Rise of Skywalker

"Lando you did it!"

The penultimate moment in my top 25 moments from the Star Wars sequels trilogy is probably the one that gave me the biggest smile. Poe and his fellow Resistance pilots are at a loose end and Poe admits defeat by saying there are just too many of the Final Order. This is when we hear a voice on Poe's radio reply "But there are more of us Poe... more of us!" Poe turns his ship around and we see that a fleet of thousands of Resistance ships have answered the call for help. The Millennium Falcon then comes into view and we see Lando laughing as if to say 'Look kid, we did it!' What makes this scene even more special is that John Williams once again knows how to score it properly and uses the classic main Star Wars theme to great effect. It's one of them scenes that shows no matter how down you are, there is always hope. It's safe to say that this scene in particular is what makes the last ever space battle in the Skywalker saga a special and very unforgettable one.

1 - Rey Skywalker, The Rise of Skywalker

The perfect last shot to end a perfect saga.

24 moments later and we are finally at my number 1. This really was no contest. The moment I first saw this moment I cried big time, much like with Luke's death, because it was emotional but also extremely sentimental for me. After the Battle on Exegol has come to an end and everyone is reunited, Rey and BB-8 head off to Luke's old home planet of Tatooine. Once there, Rey respectfully buries Luke and Leia's lightsabers. We also see a glimpse of her own new lightsaber, which has a yellow blade, a first for the Star Wars series. Once Rey has buried the sabres, and elderly lady in the distance calls out to Rey, saying no one has visited for a long time. She asks who Rey is, to which she replies with her first name. The lady then asks for her surname and Rey looks off into the distance. She sees Force ghosts of Luke and Leia, and then defiantly says her surname to be "Skywalker". After this, Rey looks into the twin suns of Tatooine with BB-8 by her side, and then the credits roll. The end. I absolutely lost it at this scene. Why? Well the scene from A New Hope when Luke looks into the twin suns is my favourite Star Wars moment of all time. I've always loved that moment because for me it is the true start of his long story in the Skywalker saga. Also, or rather vitally, John Williams first prominently plays the Force theme in this scene while Luke contemplates for better things. So when John Williams used this exact same score the Rey looking into the suns, I screamed inside my head 'Yes! This is absolutely perfect!' I genuinely had no idea how they would end the Skywalker saga, so to have it turn full circle and call back to the original trilogy like that was so inspiring to me. I also think seeing Luke by his sisters side was a beautiful touch. Also on a personal note, I was always hoping Rey would actually be Luke's daughter, so while she technically wasn't, to hear her use the surname proudly was so, so amazing.

I hope you enjoyed reading my top 25 moments from the latest Star Wars trilogy. Trust me, it wasn't the easiest thing to write because there were so many more moments I could have included. It was also a very personal blog for me to write because as you will have read, I have a very emotional bond to these films. So once again, thank you for reading and may the force be with you! Always!
